Little Readers
Helping Young Children Build a Love of Reading
Little Readers is a FREE monthly early literacy program offered in partnership with the Mesquite ISD Library Services Department. Designed for families with children from birth to age 5, Little Readers combines stories, songs, hands-on activities, and play-based learning experiences that help children build early literacy skills and develop a lifelong love of reading.
Each Little Readers session is led by a Mesquite ISD librarian and provides families with opportunities to learn, play, and connect together in a welcoming elementary school library setting. Little Readers is offered in a welcoming environment for all families, with bilingual support available for Spanish-speaking participants.
Who Is Little Readers For?
Little Readers is designed for:

- Families who want to support early literacy and language development
- Children who enjoy stories, songs, and hands-on exploration
Families are welcome to attend any Little Readers group throughout Mesquite ISD.
What Happens at Little Readers?
Each Little Readers session includes engaging activities designed to support early learning and school readiness, including:

- Songs and movement activities
- Hands-on learning experiences
- Opportunities for social interaction
- Early literacy skill development
- Fun activities families can continue at home
- Children leave with a FREE book after every session (while supplies last)
The curriculum is developed by Mesquite ISD librarians and tailored to meet the needs of young children and their caregivers.
