Building Strong Foundations for Children and Families

Read, Play, Talk is Mesquite ISD's early childhood initiative that helps families with children 0-5 five build the skills needed for lifelong learning and school success. Through family education, literacy programs, community events, and strategic partnerships, Read, Play, Talk supports early language development, early literacy, and kindergarten readiness throughout Mesquite.

Research shows that a child's earliest years are critical for brain development. By encouraging families to read, play, and talk together every day, Read, Play, Talk helps build a strong foundation for learning at home and at school.

A Community-Wide Commitment

Read, Play, Talk was created through a shared belief that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive. What began as a community-wide effort to promote early learning has grown into a network of programs, events, and partnerships that support children and families throughout Mesquite.

Through collaborations with schools, healthcare providers, local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community partners, Read, Play, Talk continues to expand opportunities for families to access resources, build connections, and support their children's development.

Together, we are helping create a stronger future for Mesquite's children by encouraging families to read together, play together, and talk together every day.
