Why Read Play Talk?

Mesquite ISD's Read Play Talk initiative encourages families to engage with their children daily starting at birth to foster early literacy and development through reading, playing, and talking together. This initiative not only promotes essential early learning activities but also offers community events and family education opoprtunities to support parents and caregivers. By partnering with local businesses and organizations, Read Play Talk spreads awareness and resources throughout the community, ensuring every family has the tools they need to build stronger bonds and provide a solid foundation for their child's future academic and personal success.

Please type in your information below to receive our Read Play Talk monthly newsletter that will feature tips for families, details about upcoming events, and other community resources.

LENA Start for families with children under the age of three

LENA Start is a family education program for all families with children under the age of three. During this eight-week class, families will learn how simply talking more with their baby will help their child's brain to develop and will set them up for success in school and beyond.

LENA Start is offered on several Mesquite ISD elementary campuses each fall and spring.

Little Free Libraries

Little Free Libraries can be found on all Mesquite ISD elementary campuses and some middle school campuses. The purpose of these Little Free Libraries are to inspire reading, build community, and ensure that books are easily available to everyone. Visitors are encouraged to take a book, leave a book, and enjoy the shared resources.

Little Free Libraries in Mesquite ISD are maintained and monitored by our community business partners and community members. If you are interested in adopting a Little Free Library, please email LParis@mesquiteisd.org
