Little Readers Book Clubs

Little Readers is a monthly story time event held on every Mesquite ISD elementary campus, perfect for families with children under 5 years old. These events Families who attend will enjoy engaging stories, participate in a fun activity or craft with their child, and have the opportunity to meet campus staff and connect with other families in the community. It's a wonderful way to encourage early literacy and create special moments together.

Read Play Talk Podcast

The Read Play Talk Podcast releases monthly episodes to encourage parents and caregivers to read, play, and talk together at home. Topics include interviews with community partners who provide resources for families, interviews with parents, information on parent education programs that are offered, and information on upcoming Read Play Talk events.

Little Free Libraries

Little Free Libraries are available on every elementary campus and some middle school campuses in Mesquite ISD. A Little Free Library is a small, community-driven book exchange that promotes literacy and fosters a love of reading by providing free access to books. The purpose of a Little Free Library is to inspire reading, build community, and ensure that books are easily available to everyone. Visitors are encouraged to take a book, leave a book, and enjoy the shared resource.

Many of our Little Free Libraries are monitored by community partners and community members. If you would like to help monitor a Little Free Library in your community, please email LParis@mesquiteisd.org

Community Partners for Families

ChildCareGroup's mission is to champion a strong two-generation system that teaches children and parents, trains early childhood professionals, and assists families.
This organization provides support for families by providing free Head Start/public preK programs and a free home visiting program for qualifying families.

Ferst Readers, in partnership with the Boone Family foundation and United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, created the Once Upon a Month literacy initiative, providing wonderful books to children in Dallas county, birth to five, and useful literacy resources to their families, mailed to the home every month.
