Read Play Talk Festival

Join us at the Read Play Talk Festival for a fun-filled family event! Local businesses and organizations will offer interactive activities, while the CTE Showcase will introduce over 25 Career & Technical Education programs offered within Mesquite ISD. Families can also enjoy bounce houses by purchasing a $5 wristband for their children. This festival is designed to encourage parents and caregivers to read, play, and talk with their children every day while creating lasting memories.

This year's Read Play Talk Festival will also feature businesses from the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce who offer a variety of resources and job opportunities for families.

Join us on Saturday, October 26 from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm at Town East Mall. We'll be in the parking lot under the mall's main marquee.

Read Play Talk Fair

The Read Play Talk Fair is a free event for businesses to participate in and for families to attend. Local businesses and organizations line the halls of Mesquite High School and provide games, activities, and crafts for families to give them ideas on how to read, play, and talk together at home. Several Mesquite ISD departments are represented at the event, including KEOM, preK enrollment, fine arts, athletics, and more. Don't forget to stop by the Scholastic Book Fair to select your child's next read!

This year's event will be held on Saturday, March 29 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm at Mesquite High School.

Read Play Talk Summer Pop-Ups

The Read Play Talk Bus makes stops during the summer at the Mesquite Public Library (Main and North Branch) as well as the Balch Springs Public Library. Families who attend these events will get to experience the Read Play Talk Bus, receive free books and resources for their children, sign up for a library card, and learn about different programs that the public libraries offer during the summer months and year-round. Read Play Talk wants to remind families of the importance of reading, playing, and talking all summer long!

Stay tuned for Summer 2025 Read Play Talk Pop-Up dates!
